It Takes a Village...

Holding back tears, I hugged my middle son goodbye before college. How did we jump from diapers to dorm rooms so fast? I can hardly believe my once little babies are all now 20, 18 and 16. It's like someone put parenting on fast-forward and forgot to hand me the remote!
In these fleeting moments, I can't help but reflect on the journey. Amid the whirlwind of raising kids, I stumbled upon a magical pause button. It wasn't a fancy gadget or a parenting hack from the latest bestseller.
No, my secret weapon was much simpler and far more powerful.
It all started one night when bedtime seemed like an impossible dream. Desperate to get my oldest to sleep, I began spinning a tale about Edward the Egg. To my amazement, my usually wiggly child transformed before my eyes. He snuggled close, eyes wide, hanging on every word.
Edward would roll off counters, tumble off horses, and even attempt driving a four wheeler. He faced challenges head-on, which often lead him into getting scrapes and utimately CRACKING.
Sound familiar, parents?
Our little ones face life's challenges head-on too, often ending up with scrapes and bumps along the way. But here's the beautiful part – just like someone was always there to tape Edward back together, we're there for our kids, armed with bandages and hugs.
Without realizing it, Edward was teaching my children more than just bravery. He was demonstrating the power of resilience and the importance of community.
As we navigate the whirlwind of raising children, we often find ourselves breathless, proud, and amazed at how far we've come. But just like in Edward's tales, we're not doing it alone.
It’s the advice, the triumphs (and yes, even the mistakes), being bravely shared, that help us along the way. (Including the advice we thought we’d never use.)
